You may have graduated from the University just last week, or be carrying on in to your next year of study, either way we would hope articles like this give you a good feeling about finding a job in Liverpool or elsewhere in the UK.
Whilst thousands of jobs become available on Merseyside every month, and tens of thousands further afield, you may wonder… well, where are they?
Jobs tend to be advertised online across a vast range of websites many of which require you to follow some set-up procedure and keep track of usernames, passwords and secret answers, so whilst setting yourself up on all of these could be a real benefit to your job search we have narrowed down some of our personal favourites to help you get started.
Remember, these are by no means ‘the best’ jobs websites, all have their merits, and your industry of interest may have its own entirely separate way of advertising vacancies to graduates but these are the places we recommend you start a job search and form a solid base from which you can apply for jobs.
My Jobs & Placements
Firstly, we recommend signing up to My Jobs & Placements ran by LJMU’s Employer Engagement team the website has hundreds of new vacancies advertised on it every week by employers who recognise the value LJMU adds to its students and work alongside LJMU to inform our curriculum, which in turn informs your degree programme, which in turn informs their potential employee (you).
My Jobs & Placements also sends you regular update emails on your sector so you always know when new jobs become available and can be first to apply.
Prospects
Next we recommend Prospects, the real benefit of prospects is that it doesn’t require log in details to submit applications or track applications.
As Prospects is a careers industry website provided by experts for graduates it not only provide a list of job vacancies it also provides advice on writing your CV, selling your skills as well as a tool for matching your beliefs, values and specialisms to job roles that are currently available online.
Guardian Jobs
The Guardian Jobs website offers thousands of jobs nationwide at all times in a good variety of sectors.
Some issues to watch out for is the potential to upload a CV and use the same CV for all your applications and writing your Cover Letter on the website, you should attempt to personalise your CV for each role you apply for and writing your Cover Letter in a word processor before putting it online will allow you to check your spelling and grammar more thoroughly than just writing your Cover Letter online.
Graduate to Merseyside
Graduate to Merseyside is a useful website for those particularly interested in remaining in the Liverpool area after graduation.
Listing a good variety of jobs in a very local vicinity it proves a popular website year in, year out for local job seekers.
Whilst we don’t recommend you limit your job search to these websites only, we certainly recommend you check them regularly to not miss the best and most relevant vacancies.
Happy job hunting! And remember the World of Work Careers Centre is open to all graduates for life should you need any help.
