Arriving at University is an opportunity to start afresh and learn some important life skills.
A lot of students choose to diversify the skills they learn through their programme by picking up part time work.
Not only does this boost their bank balance it also gives them real life examples to draw on in future job interviews and applications.
So here’s our run down of the 7 best places to find part time work in Liverpool:
1 – LJMU’s My Jobs and Placements website attracts recruiters from all around the North West and further afield to advertise to our student base.
We also proactively search for Part Time work in Liverpool and upload these jobs so our students can get a full view of the jobs market during University.
Why not sign up now at http://ljmu.prospects.ac.uk and see what opportunities await?
2 – LiverpoolSU advertise a wide range of retail and engagement roles every year exclusive to current LJMU students.
These roles are varied and give you opportunities to become a great communicator, organiser and a recognised face within University.
3 – Tradition job searching is still a viable option in Liverpool.
Having your CV and Cover Letter reviewed by the World of Work Careers Centre then printing copies out to hand in to pubs, clubs and restaurants can land you work very quickly.
Each establishment will have their own rules on accepting CVs over the counter but it can never hurt to ask.
4 – LJMU partners with major events in Liverpool, from music and art festivals to one off events.
These present LJMU students with opportunities to pick up short term work when they’re available but not be tied down to fixed contracted hours if that’s not suitable.
Keep an eye on the news pages of the website for upcoming events and have a look for roles with them.
5 – Hospitality is one of the biggest employment sectors in Liverpool.
2 football clubs, regular tennis and golf championships, festivals, horse racing and not to mention the biggest names in music visit the city’s arenas and grounds and because of this there’s never a shortage of roles available.
These roles are advertised by the respective companies so keeping an eye on their websites and Twitter feeds can give you the jump on other applicants.
6 – Window shopping
Liverpool is full of quirky, individual and small retailers.
Rather than advertise roles online or in newspapers these choose to advertise by placing signs in their windows.
A walk along Bold Street will usually result in finding two or three job adverts you may otherwise never have seen.
7 – Why not work for LJMU?
LJMU recruits students to the Student Advocate position to help raising engagement with communities in and around Liverpool as well as helping young people make their higher education decisions.
These highly competitive roles are ring-fenced to LJMU students only and are accepting applications online now, visit: https://jobs.ljmu.ac.uk/intranet/wd_portal.list?p_web_site_id=4005&p_function=map&p_title=Current%20vacancies
