The Career as a Therapeutic Radiographer event took place recently, delivered by Dr Mike Kirby from the University of Liverpool. Mike was joined by two LJMU Biology graduates, Imogen and Lowri, who first heard about therapeutic radiography as a career by coming to Mike’s talk at LJMU a few years ago.
Imogen and Lowri are now in the second and final year of the therapeutic radiography postgraduate diploma course and they both said they are really enjoying it and would encourage other LJMU students to consider this career route.
Mike also mentioned that for the last 3 years, LJMU graduates have made up around 20% of the intake each year for the postgraduate diploma course in therapeutic radiography at The University of Liverpool.
He also said there continues to be a national shortage of therapeutic radiographers in the NHS. Therefore, there is a 100% employment record for those who complete the postgraduate diploma, with some graduates of the course receiving 2 or 3 job offers.
The Careers Team runs this session every year but if you were unable to make it to this event Mike’s slides are available here.
If you want to discuss this potential career option, call into Byrom Street Careers Zone or phone 0151 231 2048 and make an appointment with Laura Aldridge, the Careers Adviser for the Faculty of Science.
