Are you in the final year of your studies at LJMU and would like to apply for a postgraduate teacher training course? Then make sure you mark the 9th of October in your diary, as this is when applications on UCAS Teacher Training open for courses starting in September 2019.  The course search will be available from the 2nd of October. If you’re still unsure of your options, or confused by the different routes, download our handy ‘Routes into Teaching’ factsheet. Requirements differ between different providers, but admissions staff for most programmes would expect you to have gained a minimum of 10 days’ work experience in schools for the subject/age range you would like to teach. If you’ve not got any or not enough relevant experience yet, there’s still time to do something about that, and the suggestions on our work experience factsheet are a good starting point.

Still confused? Don’t worry – help is at hand! Careers Adviser Linda Graham is delivering a workshop about careers in teaching, covering the different routes in and how to apply, on Wednesday, 10th October, at 11.00am on the Byrom Street campus. Book your place here.

There is also plenty of support available from the Careers Team to ensure you have a strong personal statement for your application and are well prepared for any interviews. Take a look at our application tips and interview advice. If you’d like some feedback on your draft personal statement before submitting your application, you can arrange an appointment with an employability adviser by calling into the Aldham or Byrom Careers Zone or by phoning us on 0151 231 3719/2048.
